Comedian to take up hosting duties at 2017 Golden Globes Awards
Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, is expected to take up hosting duties at the 2017 edition of the Golden Globes Awards.
The information was announced by Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman, during the network’s Television Critics Association summer press tour presentation.
The event will be hosted from the Beverly Hilton hotel located in California, United States.
Giving the announcement, Greenblatt said, “We’re thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of ‘The 74th Annual Golden Globes,
“This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year.”
Concerning what to expect, the NBC chairman also said, "It'll be fun, it'll be clever, it'll be fast,"
"Will it be satirical and biting? I don't think so, but I don't want to speak for anyone."
This is not the first time the TV host has been vested with such responsibilities.
In 2010, Fallon handled NBC's telecast of the Emmy Awards, which received good reviews.
