Here's to a new Jagz Nation album
Today, August 10, 2016 is Jesse Jagz’s birthday, and the singer has a lot to be thankful for. He has breathe, has talent, is surrounded by people who love him, including his daughter, his brother M.I Abaga, and many more. Happy birthday Mr Jagz!
While his gifts roll into his lap today from all corners of the industry, it is ironic that a man who would receive gifts on his birthday is yet to give the country the gifts that he promised this year – 2 albums.
2016 breezed in with plenty of promise for the Emperor. Fresh from a busy 2015 which saw him return to the fold of the new Chocolate City Music, he had more promise. After two years of running his Jagz Nation movement, and dropping two great albums, he came back a new man, with a direction, and bodies of work to his credit. A quick announcement of his intent was done, as he named “Gunspiration” and “Odyssey” as his album titles. A mixtape “Return of The Gods”, was also hinted.
In an interview with Vibes FM Benin before performing at the Star Music Trek 2015, which held on August 15 2015 at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Jagz said;
“For now, I got an album on my agenda. The album titled ‘Return of the Gods’ will drop in September. That’s going to be taking up a greater part of my time, and right now, it’s what I’m focused on.”
But it has been over a year since his return, and there has been no project. No album. No mixtape. No body of work.
Within that time, Jesse Jagz appeared on the group’s compilation album “The Indestructible Choc Boi Nation”, and has dropped singles ‘Your loving’, ‘Reputation’, ‘Jaga Love’, and ‘Nigeria Gangsta’.
This year, he has branched out again away from Chocolate City, returning to his earlier setup which gave him more creative freedom to pursue his personal project. Ice Prince also officially announced his Super Cool Cats record label. This was announced in a press conference chaired by label CEO, M.I Abaga.
‘It’s not a destruction of Chocolate City, but an investment in the two new imprints towards building an empire. This announcement has been in the works for months and it is easier for both prolific artistes to keep up with the pace of their creativity when under their own independent labels’.
