Jake Paul Plans to Continue Fighting, MMA Still a Possibility.
Jake Paul confirmed to Pat McAfee on Wednesday that he fully intends to fight again and is already in discussions with potential opponents for both boxing and MMA bouts.
The YouTuber hasn't sparred since Anthony Joshua broke his jaw last December. However, he shared that he will soon receive “official clearance to spar” and will then return to fighting, though he won't be seeking top-tier opponents in the immediate future.
“I’m probably just not going to fight Olympic gold medalist heavyweights anymore,” Paul stated. “I learned my lesson. I’m definitely going to keep fighting. We’re in talks with a couple of opponents right now and just figuring out when I’m going to return.”
Paul also claimed he would be ready to face Brock Lesnar in MMA, noting, “I wrestled Division I in Ohio, it doesn’t get more legitimate than that.” In reality, it does – Lesnar, for instance, was a Division I NCAA Heavyweight Champion. That is decidedly “more legitimate” than high school wrestling, even in the highly competitive Ohio scene.
Lesnar recently turned 49 and hasn't had a competitive fight since 2016, which was his only one since 2011. His last competitive fight victory dates back to 2010 against Shane Carwin at UFC 116.
An MMA bout with Nate Diaz is also still potentially on the table, according to Jake. Paul defeated Diaz in the boxing ring in August 2023, which effectively marked the peak of the “Jake Paul is a boxer” phenomenon.
