From the more than 100 Nigerian players who were in action this weekend, we take a look at the best XI.

Francis Uzoho (Goalkeeper/Elche)

Uzoho makes this starting XI despite conceding five goals in Elche’s 1-5 loss away at Cadiz. He makes the list just from playing in the game as several of his Nigerian counterparts were inactive over the weekend.

This also speaks to the dearth of goalkeeping options for Nigeria.

Ola Aina (Right-back/Torino)

Aina continues in his rich vein of form as he grabbed an assist for Torino in their 4-1 away win over Sampdoria. Aina played as left-back in the game but he comes in from the right on this starting XI.

Semi Ajayi (Central defence/Rotherham)

Ajayi was solid in central defence for Rotherham who got a 2-1 win over Swansea in the Championship on Saturday.

Kenneth Omeruo (Central defence/Leganes)

Omeruo continues to impress in Spain and was solid for Leganes who held Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw at home. Playing in central defence, Omeruo was up against the likes of Antoine Griezmann but managed to stop the prolific Frenchman from scoring from open play.

Bryan Idowu (Left-back/Lokomotiv Moscow)

Super Eagles full-back Idowu was in action for Lokomotiv Moscow in their 3-1 win over Arsenal Tula in the Russian Premier League. The Nigerian fullback played the entire minutes of the game and was impressive for his side.

Wilfred Ndidi (Defensive midfielder/Leicester City)

One of the most consistent Nigerian players, Ndidi put aside the tragedy that engulfed Leicester City to help the grieving Premier League side to a 1-0 win away at Cardiff.
