Meet the emerging rapper looking to inspire the world with his music
Fast rising rapper
How long have you been doing what you do? How did you get started?
Been doing music professionally since 2012 when I released my first official single online titled 'Before then'.
Is there an early memory you’d like to share about getting into your craft, such as when you realized this was more than just a hobby or a passion?
I wrote my first verse on a song in my first year of my university as a freshman. That was when I knew I could be an artist.
My best friend and I started a group called The drags. I can't even remember how we came up with a name like that, Lol, we both recorded a song together in a studio and performed on a show representing my university as rappers , people were wooed at our performance and that was how I gained my first confidence level and also my first major performance stage performing to a huge crowd.
How do you describe your sound to people who haven't heard your music before?
My sound is a reflection of myself, I make music the way I feel at the moment. I love all type of music but my sound is more appealing to this generation, I keep it very simple and easy for people to vibe to, mostly to put people in a happy state of mind.
Who are your influences? What is some advice that has stuck with you?
My music influences are Kanye West, Nas, Jay Z, Bob Marley and Femi Kuti.
Advice that's been stuck with me for more than a decade is The Power of Positive Thinking which was the first book I read by Arthur NormanVincent Peale. It was a gift from my dad on my 16th birthday which I was really mad at him at that time for getting me a book on my birthday lol.
What do you hope people take away from listening to your music?
To be more confident in themselves.
Tell us a little bit about your new project and what inspired the creative process for it
For my new project I'm trying to create a motivational movement to inspire everyone on the struggle to put in more work because hard work pays at the end. So I'm using my new single out 'Work work' ('Gbera') featuring Phyno and Reminisce to kick start the movement, with the visual of the song coming soon.
I get inspired by super creative and intelligent people. I'm always in the look out for people like that.
