There's no longer any doubt; Nick Calathes has left Partizan and will wear the PAOK jersey next season, reportedly after being offered an astronomical contract by the Greek club.

After much speculation and conjecture regarding whether Nick Calathes – who, it's worth noting, is a full 37 years old – would remain with Partizan or move to PAOK, the saga has now concluded. The seasoned American-Greek point guard has departed Belgrade after less than a year, joining the Thessaloniki black-and-whites.

PAOK confirmed the move on their official Instagram profile with the brief caption: "The time has come!"

Contract details are yet to be released and remain a matter of speculation.

Recall that Nick Calathes arrived at Partizan last season as a forced solution (and as a player Monaco had essentially discarded) following Karlik Jones' injury. However, even at 37, he demonstrated in the black-and-white jersey that he could still perform at a EuroLeague level.

According to Greek media reports, PAOK officials, with Andrea Trinchieri set to coach next season, offered Calathes a two-year contract worth 1.8 million euros. Partizan attempted to retain him, but such a lucrative offer, especially at this stage of his career, was simply too good to refuse.

Throughout his career, Calathes has played for Panathinaikos, Barcelona, Fenerbahçe, and Monaco. He returns to Greece after six years playing abroad.

The former Greek international holds the EuroLeague record for assists with an impressive 2,266 successful passes, and he also tops the all-time steals list with 487 possessions gained.

In 402 EuroLeague games, he averaged 8.5 points, 5.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and an 11.1 PIR in nearly 25 minutes per game.

PAOK will compete in the EuroCup next season, and the club has already strengthened its roster with Trevor Hugins, Ra'Quan Gray, Naz Mitrou-Long, and Marcus Foster. It appears the Thessaloniki black-and-whites are aiming high.
