Intriguing Coincidence: Vezenkov and Former Sacramento Coach Crowned Champions on the Same Day

Alexander Vezenkov and Olympiacos capped off their exceptional season in dream fashion yesterday, securing the Greek championship title with a victory over Panathinaikos. This triumph was made all the sweeter by the disappointment it brought to their fierce rivals.

Coincidentally, on the very same day (Saturday, US time), Sasha's former coach at the Sacramento Kings, Mike Brown, also became a champion. Of course, on a much grander stage, Brown's New York Knicks clinched the NBA title after a 4-1 series win against the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals.

It was Mike Brown who famously benched Vezenkov during Sasha's debut and sole season (2023/24) with the Kings in the NBA. Now, both men, having moved to different teams, have reached the pinnacle of their respective leagues on the same day – one as a player, the other at the helm as a coach.
