Mumbai had lost their first four games of the new campaign, but produced an excellent all-round performance to get off the mark in Bangalore on Sunday.

Simmons (59) and Chand (58) gave Mumbai the platform for victory as they helped the visitors to 209-7 after being put into bat, with Rohit Sharma's 42 also proving valuable.

And the hosts never came close to the reaching the lofty target set by Mumbai, with a talented batting line-up restricted to 191-7 thanks in part to Harbhajan's 3-27.

After losing Parthiv Patel (12) in the sixth over, Simmons and Chand put their foot on the gas with a stand of 72 to quickly push Mumbai past three figures.

Simmons hit 11 boundaries in his 44-ball innings before his departure at the hands of Yuzvendra Chahal (2-28), which only served to motivate Chand and Sharma to up the pace further.

That duo put on 63 for the third wicket, with both prospering on the pull as they bludgeoned an attack that - save for David Wiese (4-33) - was powerless to prevent their charge.

Chand's 58 came off 37 balls, while Sharma needed just 16 deliveries to hit seven boundaries and power Mumbai towards the 200 mark.

Hardik Pandya's quick-fire 16 further aided Mumbai's cause and their momentum carried into the defence of an impressive total, Singh striking to remove the dangerous opening pair of Chris Gayle (10) and Manvinder Bisla (20).

Virat Kohli (18) soon followed them back to the pavilion, though AB de Villiers' 11-ball 41 kept Bangalore in contention before he holed out to Kieron Pollard from Jasprit Bumrah (1-39).

That left Bangalore on 125-6 and, although Wiese's unbeaten 47 ensured Royal Challengers went into the final over with a chance, there was no dramatic finish as they fell well short of success.
