Shami has not played at international level since suffering a hamstring problem during the World Cup last year, but the 25-year-old was called up for the Asia Cup in Bangladesh and the World Twenty20 on home soil.

However, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) on Friday revealed that Shami will not feature in the Asia Cup and it remains to be seen if he will be fit for the World T20.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaces Shami in the squad for the Asia Cup, which starts next Wednesday.

India begin their World T20 campaign with a Group 2 clash against New Zealand in Nagpur on March 15.
