The suspected kidnappers and killers who were nabbed between September 1 and 14,  have been identified as Suleiman Goma, 30, leader, Saidu Abdullahi, 28, deputy leader, Aliyu Garba, 26 and Haruna Idi, 27.

The spokesman for the Force, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Don Awunah, while addressing newsmen, revealed that the suspects were picked up in Bauchi, Enugu and Benue states respectively.

Awunah also disclosed that one of the suspects who confessed to the crime during interrogation said that they collected N1.7 million ransom from the family of the deceased before killing him.

He added that, during the course of the investigation, the deputy leader of the group, Abdullahi, confessed to the police that he fired the shot that killed Adeyi.

“The suspect led the police to a bush in Orokam area of Benue State where three guns used for the operation were buried,“he said.

Adeyi was on his way to Otukpa, in the Ogbadibo Local Government Area to settle a dispute when he was abducted in April but his body was found two months later.

The arrest comes on the heels of the directive given by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. According to Awunah, the suspects will soon be arraigned before the court of law for prosecution.
