The Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam has reviewed a 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on the state capital, Damaturu after an attack by Boko Haram insurgents.

Gaidam cancelled the initial dusk to dawn curfew while announcing that movement would only be allowed within the capital between 7a.m. and 6p.m. daily till further notice.

This was revealed via a statement released by the state government on Tuesday, December 2 which stated:

“His Excellency Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has approved a review of the 24-hour curfew imposed earlier in the town today, members of the general public can therefore move freely between the hours of 7am and 6.00pm as the curfew will start from 6.00PM daily.”

“Going forward, the curfew hours will be reviewed further on the basis of recommendations from the heads of law enforcement agencies in the State,” the statement added.

Members of Boko Haram invaded Damaturu on Monday, December 1, but were successfully repelled by Nigerian troops.
