Foul play suspected as Ex-BBC journo is found dead in airport toilet

Jacky Sutton, 50, was found hanged at Istanbul Atatürk Airport in the early hours of Sunday 18th of October, in what local police are saying was as a result of a missed flight.

In Investigations reveal she had flown to Istanbul from London but missed a connecting flight to Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan.

According to Local media, she told airport staff she did not have enough money to buy a new ticket and was reportedly seen crying at the counter.

Her body was found a short time later.

But friends of the 'tough' journalist are not buying the official story.

Christian Bleuer, a research fellow at the Australian National University who knew her well, tweeted:

"Jacky Sutton worked in Afghanistan & Iraq. Toughest woman u could meet. Turkish police say she committed suicide cuz she missed her flight?"

He added:

"I'm not into conspiracies, but if the Turks say a security camera at Istanbul-Ataturk was "malfunctioning," then Jacky Sutton was murdered."

Jane Pearce, director of the United Nations World Food Programme in Iraq, tweeted:

Sutton had worked in Iraq for several years and was the acting Iraq director for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR). She was also studying for a PhD at the The Australian National University in Canberra.
