DPO gets demoted for beating up female warden

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ikenne Division of Ogun State, Patrick Onwu, has been demoted for assaulting a female warden.

Reports say the Inspector General of Police (IG), Solomon Arase, ordered the demotion of the DPO once he learnt about the incident, while reading a newspaper.

The IG ordered the state commissioner of Police to demote the DPO to a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Arase also ordered for the immediate transfer of Onwu, whose file is being transferred to the force headquarters in Abuja, where further disciplinary actions will be taken.

This is all as a result of Onwuassaulting a female traffic warden, Anifat Bello, for stopping his private car at NNPC junction, on IBB Boulevard on Monday, April 11, 2016.
