According to the Daily Post, the incident occurred along the Minna-Suleja axis in the state.

Reports also has it that the driver, who must have known the consequence of his action, quickly sped off the scene to avoid being apprehended.

This later came to be so as some police officers accosted and took him into custody. He was arrested near the College of Education, Minna.

The victim, who is a student of the Department of Languages in the school, has not been named, The Nation reports.

Her death led to a widespread protest as students of the school blocked off motorists from passing in an obvious show of displeasure.

News reports also revealed that the victim was on top a commercial motorcycle when she was hit alongside the rider.

The latter however survived the accident.
