The accused, who resides at 39, Arowojobe St., Mafoluku Oshodi, a Lagos suburb, is facing one-count charge of sexual assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offence was committed on Nov. 15 at the accused residence.

“The accused carried the 3-year-old girl to his room under the pretence of playing with her and defiled her,’’ he said.

The offence contravened Section 135(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case till Feb. 6 for mention.
