The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence at a complex along Joseph Dosu Way, Badagry.

He said the accused stole the item by luring the complainant to a deserted place.

“The accused acted like he wanted to buy the item; so, he called the complainant who then carried the item, to meet him at a place the latter suggested.

“On getting there, the accused overpowered the accused, and took away the television set,’’ he said.

Ikem said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes a three-year imprisonment for stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
