According to Capt Idris Wada, the Governor of Kogi State, the state government has paid $1.3m to the UN Habitat for an urbanisation project in the state.

At a forum for the State of Kogi Structure Plans organised by the state government in conjunction the UN-Habitat, the deputy, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi, spoke for the governor revealing the importance of urbanization project to his administration.

On the importance of the project, he went on to say that it would attract funding and support from donor agencies towards the development of key cities in the state.

Adding that the strategic location of Lokoja, with over 23 states crisscrossing the capital on a daily basis, calls for painstaking and adequate planning of the state capital.

Capt Idris thanked the UN Habitat for its partnership because of it's many benefits.

Prof Oyebanji Oyeyinka, the UN Habitat Regional Director for Africa, praised the State Government for it's success in developing well planned cities, adding that they were committed to developing cities in Kogi State.
