The incident comes just a day before the state’s supplementary governorship polls which will hold tomorrow, December 5, 2015.

According to The Nation, it is believed that the INEC office was burnt in a bid to frustrate the conduct of the elections in the area.

The initial election held on Saturday, November 21, but was declared inconclusive by INEC due to irregularities.

The issue was further complicated by the death of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu who was in the lead along with his running mate, James Faleke.

INEC authorized the APC to replace Audu to which end the party nominated Yahaya Bello but this didn’t sit well with Faleke who insisted that he should be declared governor-elect.

Audu’s running mate has sued INEC and is urging the Federal High Court in Abuja to rule in his favour.

Faleke has chosen Audu’s son, Mohammed to be his running mate.
