Association commends Gov. Shettima for donating 5,000 tricycles to its members
The National Commercial and Motorcycle Riders Owners Association of Nigeria (NCMROAN) Borno chapter, has commended Gov. Kashim Shettima for donating 5,000 tricycles to its members in the last three years.
The chairman of the association, Malam Muhammad Kaigama, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on Monday that the donation has boost members business. Kaigama said that the donation followed the ban on commercial motorcycles in Maiduguri, the state capital.
"You will agree with me that the banning of 'okada' has yielded positive result in view of the spate of accidents recorded before. The tricycle has also empowered our youths, you will find out that two or three persons are working on one tricycle as a basic means of income,’’ Kaigama said.
According to him, the association, in collaboration with security agencies had intensified patrol in the town to arrest under age riders who were the causes of most accidents. He explained that the association has established desk offices in 130 units in the metropolis.
