According to a statement released on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Asinim Butswat, the robbers opened fire of officers on duty at the bank around on Sunday, March 27.
Butswat said the gunmen, numbering five, scaled through the fence of the bank building at about 10.50pm and policemen fired back at the gunmen, killing one of them, while others fled with bullet wounds.
The spokesman said that investigation into the incident is ongoing, and that the corpse of the armed robber has been deposited in the morgue at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa.
