Ime Udoka makes adjustments as Boston Celtics beat Golden State Warriors to take Game 3
The Boston Celtics recorded a 116-100 victory against the Golden State Warriors in Game three of the 2022 NBA Finals played in the early hours of Thursday, June 9, 2022.
The Warriors led by Steph Curry took game two at the Chase Center to split the series laying the gauntlet to the Celtics.
Playing in front of their home fans at the TD Garden in in Boston, Massachusetts, the Celtics started off hot sending a message to the Warriors.
In what was the Celtics first NBA Finals since 2010, they produced a dominant performance to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Udoka keeps Jaylen Brown hot
The key to the Boston Celtics quick start in Game 3 was shooting Guard Jaylen Brown with a 17 point first quarter outburst.
Brown was key to their fourth quarter resurgence to a shock Game one victory but was kept quiet in the Game two loss.
It was clear from the tip off that Udoka made a concerted effort to get Brown going early in the game.
That resulted into the Celtics taking the first quarter 33-22. The Warriors settled down in the second quarter with a 35-34 score line.
The Celtics went into the halftime break with a comfortable 12 point cushion expecting a rally by the Warriors.
Steph and Klay light it up
The Golden State Warriors have won the third quarter in the first two games and continued that trend on the road in Boston.
Warriors guards Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were lights out in the third knocking down shot after shot and at one time took the lead for the first time since the first quarter.
The 12 point deficit was reduced to just five points as the Warriors won the third quarter 33-25.
Jayson Tatum gives the Celtics the W
With just a five point lead at the start of the fourth quarter, Celtics forward Jayson Tatum showed urgency with his play on the offensive end to put his teammates in the right spots.
Tatum scored when necessary and found his team =mates to knock down key shots as the Celtics ran riot to start the final quarter,
]The Celtics took a huge lead with two minutes left and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr threw the white flag by bringing in the bench players to end the game.
The Warriors will show desperation against the Celtics to win Game 4 on Friday, June 10, as they cannot afford to go down 3-1 heading back to San Francisco for Game 5.
