Nigerian midfielder signs for Rosenborg in Norway

Ogbu who was the former captain of Nigeria’s Under 17 men’s team (Golden Eaglets) has signed a four year deal which will see him at the club until 2021.

Speaking to the clubs website upon completing the deal, Ogbu stated he was happy to have completed the move after an unusual move abroad

He said, "I have had a great time in the club. It was a bit unusual at first, but it's gotten better every time I've been here.”

“I think this is a very nice step for me in my career. My dream is now coming true. Right now I'm just very happy.”

Coach of Rosenborg Kåre Ingebrigtsen also in a statement on the clubs website stated he was happy with the signing of the Nigerian youngster.

"In addition to being a talented young man, he is also a very nice type, and has performed well in the player group. It will be exciting to see his development when he is trained for an even longer time with the team.”

Ogbu who is just 18-years-old is a central midfielder and will wear the number 30 at his new club.

The youngster joins compatriots Afeez Aremu, Michael Ogungbaro, Akeem Latifuand Daniel Chima Chukwu who moved to Norway recently.

Ogbu could make his first competitive appearance when Sarpsborg 08 host Rosenborg in their League opener on Sunday, March 11
