These 3 songs should not be on forthcoming “Jos To The World” album
Between releasing “Fire of Zamani”, and announcing a new album, Ice Prince has released a ton of materials and enjoyed the vibe on collaborations that he has executed. “Trash Can EP” came through in 2015, and produced the sleeper hit ‘Mutumina’. With some songs thrown in to represent the rapper’s loose material that he felt like giving away.
But a new album is coming soon, and everyone is super hyped about the arrival of the new projects. “Jos To The World” is almost available, with certain singles likely to make the cut. There’s no available tracklist yet, but we have our fears about it. It would be a tragedy for the rapper to throw in plenty of more loose tracks that shouldn’t make the cut for many reasons.
Who would want an album with ‘dead’ songs from anyone? Irrespective of if it is Ice Prince or anyone else.
But it’s Ice Prince we are talking about here, and Pulse Music prays for one thing; that these 3 songs that we have outlined below don’t make the final cut. These are songs that have found a way from Ice Prince’s hard drives into the internet and radio stations.
Prior to the release of his single ‘Chike’, the ex-Chocolate City rapper put Nigeria on an anticipation drive, promoting his next project with vigor. Pictures were released, tweets were sent out, and a declaration was made. Ice Prince said ‘Chike’ was ‘the greatest song of his career’, and every media outlet reported with glee.
But no.
‘Chike’ dropped, and it featured a certain Jheri-curled boyish singer from Don Jazzy’s camp. Korede Bello got the nod for the single and together they released a track which had an uncanny beat similarity to Olamide’s ‘Abule sowo’. The song in itself was lackluster, with no love given to it. Twitter was on fire, and everyone called him out with delight.
This should not be a part of this fresh start.
2015 had Ice Prince in the clubs, with the single ‘Boss’, which was produced by the Tekno. But many people all over the world were struck by the uncanny similarity of the melody and progression with his ex-label mate, Victoria Kimani’s hugely successful ‘Show’.
This song shouldn’t make the cut. “Jos To The World” can do without a tired ‘imitation’ single.
When Ice Prince literally rubbed his shoulders with the God MC, Jay Z in a 2015 photo, and had a meeting at ROC Nation offices in New York, many expected a shift from Ice Prince’s traditional sounds into a fusion record.
What no one saw was a generic Trap record, which has the sole highlight of featuring his girlfriend, Maima, on it.
Too generic, lacking inspiration, and not fit for the new album.
