No medal for Nigeria

It was a woeful performance from Nigerian athletes at recently concluded IAAF World Junior Championship as they finished without a medal.

Nigerian could not make a podium appearance at the 16th edition of the championships which finished on Sunday, July 24 at the Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Nigeria’s medal hopeful, sprint hurdler, Tobiloba Amusan from the University of Texas in El Paso, USA finished fifth in the race which was won by Elvira Herman from Belarus.

Nigeria failed to win any medal in Chile, 2000, Grosseto, Italy, 2004, Barcelona, 2012 and Poland, 2016.

Nigeria has won a total of 30 medals at the championships with as many as 10 gold medals.
