How Maximo Quiles Can Clinch the World Championship at the Indonesian Grand Prix
Maximo Quiles missed his first championship point in the 2026 Moto3 title battle after finishing second at the Japanese Grand Prix last week.
The Spaniard will have a second opportunity to wrap up the crown early during tomorrow's Indonesian Grand Prix. To seal the title, he must conclude the race at Mandalika with an advantage of at least 125 points.
Quiles currently holds a 127-point cushion over David Almansa, with Alvaro Carpe and Brian Uriarte also remaining in mathematical contention. The two KTM teammates trail leader Quiles by 135 and 139 points, respectively. This means Quiles will be crowned world champion with five rounds to spare if he concedes no more than two points to Almansa, ten to Carpe, and 19 to Uriarte.
Uriarte will start from pole position at Mandalika, alongside Almansa and Carpe on the front row. Quiles will launch from sixth on the grid, behind Leopard Racing teammates Adrian Fernandez and Guido Pini on the second row. The Moto3 Indonesian Grand Prix gets underway tomorrow at 07:00 Bulgarian time.
