Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton finished second in the Singapore Sprint and was among those delighted by the arrival of the rain.

"I had a mega start, which was great," the Briton explained. "I love driving on this track in the wet because in these conditions, the moment it started raining, I thought to myself: 'This is a great day.'"

"I tried to close down Max without completely destroying my tyres, and without pushing flat out, I was still catching him.

"At one point, though, I realised there were still a lot of laps left to the finish, and I didn't think overtaking was possible in these conditions since there was only one dry racing line. So I backed off, but the front-right tyre started overheating quickly, prompting me to ease off again before pushing towards the end to close the gap. Overtaking around here is just tough."
