Achraf Hakimi made a surprising revelation on the "Bridge" podcast, stating that during Lionel Messi's tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, the Moroccan international did not enjoy being his teammate.
While Hakimi acknowledged the Argentine's contribution to the team and how much he elevated their style of play, he emphasized that it was a change he disliked: "As soon as Messi arrived, PSG's project changed, and with it, the team's playing style. We played in different ways, and I didn't enjoy it."
Specifically, the Paris Saint-Germain full-back stated: "I wasn't doing the things I love, like attacking and feeling important... I felt like a secondary player, and I remember at that moment I was thinking about my situation with the national team, where I am treated as an important player."
Regarding the criticism he received for his performance, the Moroccan commented: "It was mentally difficult for me to play in Paris the way I wanted, and then I started receiving criticism, with people asking why I played one way for Morocco and looked different in Paris. Is he not good? Or is there another reason? People don't understand the difference."
