Rafael Camara is set to make his Formula 1 debut in 2027 with Haas after the American outfit reached an agreement with both the Brazilian driver and Ferrari, reports racingnews365.com.
The current Formula 2 championship leader will step in to replace Esteban Ocon, who is departing Haas after a two-year stint. Camara will partner fellow Ferrari Driver Academy member Oliver Bearman, whose seat is yet to be officially announced, though confirmation is expected imminently, most likely ahead of the United States Grand Prix.
Camara had been tipped as the front-runner for the Haas drive for several months, despite facing competition from Jack Doohan and Ryo Hirakawa. The trio took part in a series of evaluation tests in the American team's previous-spec machinery, with the latest session held at Jerez in early September.
Camara and Doohan emerged as the standout performers during the test, with the final decision made over the Singapore Grand Prix weekend to hand the race seat to Camara for next season. Alongside enhanced backing from Ferrari, the Brazilian also brings substantial commercial support from his home country.
