Kebbi Governor, Atiku Bagudu, has condoled the family of a retired Customs Officer, Alhaji Faruk Umaru, and his wife, Hajiya Nasara Yusuf, who died as a result of a fire outbreak on Sunday, March 31.

Bagudu expressed his condolence in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday when he joined hundreds of Muslims at the three-day Fidau Prayer for the repose of the soul of the victims.

The prayer session was attended by members of the state executive council, state House of Assembly members, politicians, traditional rulers as well as top government functionaries.

Islamic scholars made special supplication to God to grant mercy to the deceased.

The Ulama were Mallam Abubakar Kakale, Mallam Haruna Gwandu, Mallam Umaru Sala, the Chief Imam in Government House, Birnin Kebbi, and Mallam Muhammad Nata’ala.

They prayed to Allah to grant the deceased Al Jannah Firdaus and the family members the fortitude to bear the loss.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that late Faruq, passed away at age of 63, while his wife, Nasara, at 53 in a fire out break that consumed their house, leaving behind 13 children.

Hajiya Nasara, until her death, was the Executive Secretary in the state Primary School Staff Pension Board.
