Gil Vicente are gearing up for Thursday's high-stakes Allianz Cup clash against Benfica, amid growing transfer interest in Barcelos. According to A BOLA, Lille are closely monitoring David Moreira, with the French outfit not ruling out a formal bid for the left-back when the transfer window reopens in January.
The 21-year-old Cape Verdean joined on a free transfer from Sporting CP last summer—in a deal that also saw José Silva move to Barcelos while Rodrigo Rodrigues went the opposite way. However, the Lions retained a sell-on percentage, meaning any potential switch to France will guarantee a financial windfall for the Lisbon club.
Nevertheless, head coach Luís Pinto's immediate focus is squarely on Benfica, though assembling his game plan to host the Eagles is turning into a genuine selection headache.
To begin with, he is without two crucial players: centre-back Elimbi, who was sent off in the closing stages against FC Porto, and midfielder Diogo Prioste, who is on loan from Benfica and ineligible to face his parent club under competition rules.
Compounding these issues are fitness concerns: Tchaptchet and Bamba remain in the treatment room and will miss out, while Weverson and Héctor Hernández are major doubts and will undergo late fitness tests ahead of kick-off.
