Miami's new star acquisition, Giannis Antetokounmpo, has shared his expectations for the upcoming NBA season.
“I'm going to dominate this season. I want to prove that I am one of the best players in the NBA. I want to tell the fans: we are bringing the Heat back to its former glory. My focus for the new season is to win. When an opportunity arises, I will dominate. Miami, get ready for an exciting season,” Heat Central quoted the Greek forward as saying.
In the summer of 2026, Antetokounmpo made the move from the Milwaukee Bucks to Miami. Bobby Portis also joined the Heat. In return, Milwaukee acquired guards Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jaakučionis, and Jaime Jaquez, center Kelel Ware, along with three first-round picks, one second-round pick, and a pick swap.
Antetokounmpo spent all 13 of his NBA seasons prior to this with Milwaukee. In 2021, he helped the Bucks secure their first championship title in 50 years.
Last season, the 31-year-old Greek superstar played in only 36 regular-season games due to injuries, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
