The international centre-back was the star of the show in the Hammers' emphatic 4-0 win against a struggling Wolves side. The crucial victory helped his team pull further away from the relegation zone, with Mavropanos taking on an unexpected attacking role and making his forward runs count.

In the 42nd minute, the 28-year-old defender opened the scoring at the London Stadium with a powerful header, setting the tone for West Ham's dominant performance. He then sealed the 4-0 victory in the 83rd minute, putting the icing on the cake of a great night for both him and his team.

With this performance, Mavropanos becomes only the third Greek player in Premier League history to score two goals in a single game. He joins an elite group that, until now, consisted solely of attack-minded players.

Before him, the feat was achieved by Stelios Giannakopoulos, who scored a brace in two separate matches for Bolton during the 2005-06 season, and Georgios Samaras, who bagged two goals in three different games for Manchester City in the 2006-07 campaign.
