Gasperini hails 'experienced' Ademola Lookman for immediate Atalanta impact
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has lauded Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman for his immediate impact since joining the Serie A side.
Lookman joined Atalanta on a permanent deal from German club RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window, signing a five-year deal to stay in Italy.
The 24-year-old attacker has hit the ground running with his new side, with the Super Eagles forward currently on a three-match scoring streak for the league title challengers.
'Lookman is young and experienced' - Gasperini
With goals against Fiorentina, Udinese, and Sassuolo in his last three games, Gasperini has showered praise on Lookman for bringing his experience to bear for Atalanta.
Lookman previously played on loan for Leicester City, and Fulham, apart from two different stints at RB Leipzig since signing for Everton from the Charlton Athletic Academy.
While speaking on Radio Rai 1 as reported by Football Italia, Gasperini said on Lookman: "Despite being a young guy, he has evolved. I give him five goals because he also scored at Monza. He’s a guy who grew up with Leipzig, he had experience in England."
Gasperini believes Lookman is settled at Atalanta
The Italian tactician went further to explain that Lookman came to the Atalanta squad as almost a finished product who knew what to do and slotted into the team effortlessly.
Gasperini also stated that the Nigeria international is now settled at the club and does not need time to continue contributing more to the club.
“When he came to us I had the feeling of an evolved player who knows football and who immediately entered into our mechanisms," Gasperini explained.
"He’s a settled player who doesn’t need any more time to make an extraordinary contribution.”
Lookman has scored four (4) goals and provided one (1) assist in 10 appearances so far for Atalanta this season.
