Gernot Rohr says Super Eagles won’t miss Ndidi in AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa
The Super Eagles are top of group E in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ahead of the Bafana Bafana.
Ndidi will miss the game against South Africa after accumulating yellow cards in the AFCON doubleheader against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
The 21-year-old was hence not included in the Super Eagles team for the next qualifier against South Africa.
With Super Eagles captain , the midfield is now short of two regulars.
Nigerians have expressed concern that with Ndidi missing the Super Eagles may struggle against the side that beat the Super Eagles in the first qualification encounter.
Rohr on Ndidi
According to Rohr has stated that his team can cope without Ndidi when Nigeria face South Africa as veteran John Ogu can fill in the void.
Speaking at the He said, “My team will cope without Ndidi. We have others like Ogu John who can play there and then Onazi too who can also play there. We will cope without him.”
Rohr reportedly made the statement after the team finished the game against Libya in Sfax Tunisia.
The Super Eagles have Mikel Agu, Ogu, and Stoke City midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo as the available midfield options for the crucial game.
The Nigerian midfielder who is in good form with Leicester City will not take part in the qualification game along with the friendly against the Cranes of Uganda.
