George Bailey: India can have no complaints due to lack of DRS

George Bailey said India only have themselves to blame after he was given not out despite gloving his first ball through to MS Dhoni and went on to score a century in Australia's five-wicket one-day international victory in Perth.

Bailey made 112 and captain Steve Smith a magnificent 149 at the WACA, the duo sharing 242 for the third wicket as Australia got home with four balls to spare after Rohit Sharma's sublime 171 not out had enable the tourists to post 309-3.

It could have been a different story in the opening game of the five-match series had Bailey not had a huge slice of fortune at the start of his innings.

A delivery from debutant Barinder Sran struck him on the glove and was taken by wicketkeeper Dhoni down the leg side, but umpire Richard Kettleborough's verdict was not out.

Bailey said India can have no arguments given that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refuse to accept the Decision Review System (DRS).

"It would have been interesting to have a look at it on DRS, but we're not the team that doesn't want it." Bailey told Wide World of Sports.

Bailey lavished praise on prolific captain Smith, who led by example once again.

"There's a handful of batsmen around the world around that same age who are just pretty awesome to watch at the moment." said Bailey.

"It's a bit demoralising batting with him to be honest, because he just makes it look very, very easy at times. But also it's very impressive to see the hunger for runs.

"There's a lot of guys who have a good innings or series, but to see his mental approach and the way he structures his innings, and to finish it off as he did, to take it as deep as he did, across all formats, on top of having to captain the side - I'm just so impressed. I'm in awe of him, absolutely."

Rohit struck 13 fours and seven sixes in his sublime 163-ball knock, surpassing Viv Richards' long-standing record for the highest ODI score against Australia in Australia.

The opener and Virat Kohli (91) combined to put on 207 for the second wicket, but India were unable to start the series on a high note despite Sran impressing on his international bow with figures of 3-56.
