Marseille head coach Bruno Genesio commented on his team's convincing 4-0 victory over Strasbourg in the opening match of the Ligue 1 season.
"In the first half, we played well, but we lacked a bit more sharpness and aggression in the final third, as well as surprising bursts of pace. We needed to continue building our attacks and get more players into the box. The first goal relieved the pressure. Now, we need to enjoy this success," Genesio stated.
"The collective spirit has been evident since my very first day at the club. You can feel it every day. The integration of the young players was excellent, as was the shared joy after every goal. This speaks volumes about the team. And, of course, the fans – I came here for them too. They pushed us forward and helped us. We couldn't have dreamed of a better start," the specialist added.
"However, we must remain composed in both good and bad times. This is only the first round; we won't draw any definitive conclusions, as we will be judged throughout the entire season. But it's good that we confirmed the positive aspects from our pre-season preparation in a match against a strong Ligue 1 opponent," the OM coach concluded.
