This is expected to put a stop to road recklessness especially by commercial vehicle drivers.

On this note, the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Sunday Oghenekaro, has urged commercial motorists to install the device in their vehicles before April 1 when the agency would begin to arrest and prosecute defaulters.

The corps last year held a nationwide rally ahead of the implementation of the speed limit device on vehicles whose implementation was initially fixed for June 1, 2015, according to Punch.

Due to the imminence of the 2015 General Elections and pressures from stakeholders, the implementation was postponed.

According to the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Officer, FRSC, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, explained that the device was introduced to reduce accidents arising from over-speeding.
