Former Manchester United star Antonio Valencia is set to join local English side Wythenshawe, with the club announcing his acquisition on social media. Interestingly, the veteran will not be the first player on their roster to have graced the Premier League.
In the past, the Cheshire-based club has signed Danny Drinkwater, who played for Chelsea and Leicester, as well as Papiss Cissé, who featured in the Premier League for Newcastle.
The 40-year-old Valencia signed for Manchester United in 2009 from Wigan and spent a decade at Old Trafford, eventually becoming the team's captain.
The English club posted on Instagram: “We are proud to welcome Premier League winner Antonio Valencia to Wythenshawe Vets. A Manchester United legend. A title winner. Now wearing our badge. Welcome to the team, Antonio!”
