Former Barcelona forward adds class to SC Braga and sets sights on Sporting clash

Pau Víctor is the Guerreiros' top scorer this term as he prepares to face Sporting with a clear objective: opening his account against the Lisbon giants

In just 12 appearances this season, Pau Víctor has already reached nearly a third of his entire goal tally from last year. While the 2025/26 campaign brought 17 goals in 56 matches for the Spanish forward, the Catalan has already struck five times this term across all competitions for SC Braga. On current form, the Minho side's number 10 is well on course to outshine his debut season figures and could even set his sights on breaking his career-best scoring return: 20 goals in 39 matches for Barcelona B back in 2023/24.

At 24 years of age, Pau Víctor is approaching a prime stage of his development, consistently proving to be a cut above the rest. The former Barça man is not an out-and-out number nine, yet he possesses a lethal instinct in front of goal, as his numbers clearly show. His exceptional technical quality also accelerates Braga's attacking sequences, opening up central spaces for teammates and consistently disrupting opposition defensive lines.

With Pau Víctor hitting his stride, Sporting CP will need to be on high alert. The Lions are up next for the Guerreiros in a heavyweight Primeira Liga Matchday 8 showdown, scheduled for Friday at 8:15 pm.

Benfica conquered, Sporting and FC Porto still waiting

Pau Víctor's arrival at SC Braga at the start of last season made an immediate statement. The club's hierarchy committed €12 million (with a potential €3 million in performance-related add-ons) to Barcelona to secure 100 percent of his rights, protecting him with a €50 million buyout clause.

He also arrived boasting an impressive résumé, with three major domestic honors in Spain: La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa, having featured 29 times (registering two goals and one assist) for Barcelona in 2024/25.

During his debut season at the Pedreira, his 17-goal haul included a brace against Benfica across both league meetings. However, despite starting both league matches against Sporting, he was kept off the scoresheet—a fate he also shared against FC Porto. Now, his sights are firmly set on finally hunting down the Lions.
