Ricky Hatton believes Floyd Mayweather's desire to be "the best at everything" is likely to ensure the undefeated world champion fights again after facing Andre Berto this weekend.

Mayweather will draw level with the great Rocky Marciano and hold a sparkling 49-0 record if, as anticipated, he gets the better of Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Having out-pointed Manny Pacquiao in a much-anticipated super-fight in May, Mayweather has repeatedly insisted that Saturday's bout will be his last.

Yet Hatton, who lost his own unblemished record against Mayweather in December 2007, believes the man who dubs himself TBE (The Best Ever) will be tempted back into the ring for one last hurrah.

"I'm not sure if it will be his last fight," Hatton told Omnisport.

"He [Mayweather] says it's his last fight but he equals Marciano's record with this. Knowing Floyd Mayweather, he wants to be the best at everything and he's not far wrong when he says that.

"He'll want to beat Marciano's record so I think he'll have one more.

"Floyd calls himself the best ever, I think the best ever will beat that record. I think we might see him again, if we don't - thanks for the memories."

Mayweather's position among boxing's most legendary figures has been the subject of seemingly endless debate, but Hatton ranks the super-confident 38-year-old among the very best.

"He's up there with some of the greats," said the Briton.

"What he's done at different weight divisions and the way he's beaten other pound-for-pound champions in the division - arguably he might be the greatest of all time.

"I think even if I thought it [that I was the best ever], I wouldn't say it. I can't comprehend myself saying I'm better than Muhammad Ali. If you look at Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather, I think those are the best three in boxing and I'm sure everyone has their own order for them, but Floyd is there, no doubt about it."
