Following the match, the 'Blaugrana' vehemently protested the refereeing decisions, even filing an official complaint with UEFA. In a similar vein, Hansi Flick asserted that his team was unfairly treated, while also responding to Real Madrid coach, Álvaro Arbeloa, regarding the Negreira case.

“I don't know what the outcome will be, but for me and the team, it's very important that the club supports us, because I believe it was unjust. A mistake can happen, but not two at this level,” the German coach stated, adding:

“That's why VAR exists. If they spot something wrong, they should inform the referee to review it, which was missing in that game. It's true, of course, that we didn't play our best. We made mistakes. However, these refereeing errors contributed to the critical moments of the match.”

Regarding Arbeloa's comments, Flick was unequivocal: “I don't waste my energy on that. It's his opinion, fine. I focus on my team and what I can control. Such issues don't concern or worry me. There's a lot of noise around us. We need to focus on our team and not think about Real.”
