Nigerian players boycotted training on Thursday due to unpaid fees and President Jonathan has promised to pay the monies owed the players who are expected to be in Brasilia for the game on Monday.

It is reported that the Nigerian president made a personal call to the players, assuring them that the money will be paid. According to Kickoff, the sports minister Tamuno Danagogi has been mandated to fly into Brazil with the payment.

An unnamed NFF official confirmed that: “The President called them this morning to assure them that the sports minister is coming in with their money.''

It will be recalled that a similar incident occured last year at the Confederations Cup in Brazil when the team threatened not to take part in the championship.

Recently, West African nation; Ghana, before elimination from the World Cup were at loggerheads with the football federation over unpaid bonuses which led president John Dramani Mahama to send the money in cash via plane.

Captain of the Nigerian team Joseph Yobo has however insisted that the issue is now behind them, confirming that they will travel to Brasilia to play France on Monday.

It can also be recalled that Ghana after receiving the money from the president, lost the game against Portugal and was eliminated from Brazil 2014.
