With his title fight against Moses Itauma approaching on August 29th, Filip Hrgovic gave an interview to DAZN, discussing the bout, the rivalry, the difference in their characters, and his own expectations.

See some excerpts from his statements below.

Hrgovic on being an underdog according to bookmakers

"I don't care. Opinions are like... everyone has one. I'm not interested in what others think. It doesn't matter... Only what I think matters. And I think I'm going to throw him out of the ring."

On how he feels before the fight

"I feel great. I had a great training camp and I feel excellent."

Whether Itauma can have a good career if he loses this fight

"I think the best thing for him would be to lose this fight. That would be the best for him as a fighter and as a person, because he is young. If he wins titles so young, he will ruin his life and soul and won't be able to handle the pressure. I am a different beast and I am 35. I have been through life, through many things, so I can handle it much better. And for him to become a world champion at 21 will be too much."

"It's best for him to lose this fight and rebuild his career again, step by step... The most important thing in life is to save your soul. If you don't save your soul, nothing else matters."

On his conviction that Itauma is arrogant

"I think he's just immature. He's just a kid, man. That's not an insult, it's reality. When I see him, I see a child, someone who is just young. We've all been young and foolish, and when you get older, you change your mind, you change your attitude... I see a child, that's it. So it's not his fault."

On Itauma's best chance being an early knockout

"He is dangerous in the early rounds, and I am more dangerous in the later ones – on paper, that's how it is. But in the fight, anything can happen. I can take him out in the first round or he can take me out in the twelfth, so you never know how the fight will go. We'll see."
