The Super Falcons of Nigeria fell to a 2-0 defeat in their second group game of the FIFA Women's World Cup against Australia.
A brace from Kyah Simon now gives the Matildas three valuable points in their quest to reach the Round of 16 at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The game started on a slow note with goalscoring chances hard to come by.
The Australians however took to the lead in the 30th minute after captain Lisa De Vanna made a driving run through the heart of the Nigerian defence before passing off to Simon, who lifted the ball over Precious Dede and into the net.
Simon scored her second, comfortable slotting home after a cross from Samantha Kerr found her in the box unmarked.
The Super Falcons now need at least a victory over the USA to progress to the knockout stages.
