The Chile 2015 final was the second time the Eaglets will play an all-Africa final at the Under-17 level. The first was a 2-1 victory over Ghana in 1993.

Nigeria is now the most successful team in the tournament's history.

Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, won the tournament’s Golden Shoe after scoring 10 goals in seven matches. He also became the highest goalscorer in the history of the tournament, surpassing records set by France’s Sinama Pongolle and Ivory Coast’s Souleymane Coulibaly in 2001 and 2011 respectively.

Osimhen also won the competition’s Silver Ball.
