FIA tweaks pit entry at Sepang after Friday complications

Formula 1 race director Rui Marques has made a minor adjustment at Sepang following Friday practice ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The change impacts the pit entry, specifically concerning the cone placed at the approach. Under Marques' original instructions, any driver passing to the right of the bollard was required to enter the pit lane, regardless of their intention.

However, Friday practice saw several drivers outbrake themselves heading into the final, off-camber corner, running wide as a result. George Russell, for instance, had to abandon his soft-tyre flying lap in FP2 after braking so late that he drifted to the right of the cone, leaving him with no choice but to head down the pit lane.

To avoid similar disruptions for the rest of the race weekend, the cone was relocated ahead of Free Practice 3. It has now been placed at the start of the grass verge separating the circuit from the pit entry road.
