He shared the news during the presentation of the prospective African Grand Prix, set to be held in Rwanda. Alongside Ben Sulayem, the event was attended by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

"The beauty of 2030 is that we are working together to introduce the new V8 engines in 2030, meaning Rwanda will feature these power units for its inaugural race. When we began setting our targets for these engines, as a driver myself, the first thing I wanted was lighter cars. The new engines will be roughly 80 kilograms lighter, though perhaps I shouldn't be saying that to the media just yet. Furthermore, they will be around 50% cheaper to develop. We've also kept the fans in mind, as we are talking about authentic sound rather than noise. I believe we are in a more mature position now; we could technically wait until 2031 when the decision rests solely with the FIA, but with the support of Formula 1, the teams, and the manufacturers, I am confident we will be ready for 2030," Ben Sulayem stated.
