Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali confirmed during the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, taking place in Malaysia, that the 2026 season will finish as planned with races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi in late November and early December.
Due to the uncertain situation in the Middle East, Formula 1 had been preparing an alternative contingency plan to finish the campaign at Imola. However, Domenicali made it clear that the season will conclude with the double-header in the Gulf after receiving safety and security guarantees in the region.
"That is the direction we have taken based on the information and guarantees we have received," Domenicali said at Sepang.
Formula 1's decision to go ahead with the Qatar and Abu Dhabi rounds also directly impacts Formula 2, where Nikola Tsolov is contending for the championship. The final two rounds of the feeder series are also scheduled to take place at Lusail and Yas Marina, running alongside the F1 race weekends.
