Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has confirmed that Enzo Fernández will not be available for the Blues' Sunday clash against Manchester City, adding fuel to the fire regarding the Argentine's future in London.

"Enzo will not play on Sunday. We hope that after this, he will have a significant role. There are a few hurdles we need to overcome," Rosenior stated, leaving the issue unresolved following the player's recent comments about Madrid.

Fernández had previously expressed his desire to stay in Madrid, commenting that it reminded him of Buenos Aires. This statement triggered a strong reaction from Chelsea fans and reportedly led to a two-match 'suspension' by his manager, casting doubt on the 25-year-old midfielder's future.

Recently, the player's agent, Javier Pastore, attempted to calm the situation, stressing that there was never a real issue in the relationship between the footballer and the club. However, the English manager's latest statement seems to contradict this assessment, at least in part.

Although Rosenior did not rule out the player's return, he implied that fully mending the relationship requires further steps, without clarifying whether the matter has been definitively resolved.
