Chelseaseason with a 3-2 win over West Brom The Hawthorns.
Pedro opened his account for Chelsea while his compatriots, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta were the other scorers for Chelsea.
These are five things we learnt from the win.
1. Pedro adds another dimension
Pedro signed for Chelsea last week and was straight away given his first start against West Brom. He repaid Jose Mourinho with a gaol on his debut and had a hand in the second goal as weel. With the performance of today, the Spain international showed that he has added another dimension to Chelsea game.
Chelsea's main problem going forward during their pre-season games and league games was the only Eden Hazard could make something happen. Willian had been playing from the right side, but even though the Brazilian is known for his industry and work rate, he seems to lack that defectiveness and goal threat that Pedro offer.
With Pedro, Chelsea now have three forwards who can bring the goals anytime.
2. John Terry needs help
Captain John Terry was an imperious force last season as Chelsea won the title, but with what we have seen so far this season, the 34-year-old need help.
He played all of Chelsea's game last season on their way to the title but it seems Terry does not have the trust of Jose Mourinho again as he was substituted in 0-3 loss at Manchester City last week. Some reports suggest that Mourino had doubts starting him in that game and that tells you that even Mourinho knows that his captain is on the wane.
Terry with his red card against West Brom today showed that he is losing the pace and intensity.
Mourinho knows this and is reportedly after likes of John Stone and Rapheal Varane to replace the defender.
3. Something is wrong with Cesc Fabregas
He was a crucial part of Chelsea's winning title side of last season, but Fabregas has been lost this season.
Just a day after their opening day draw against Swansea, the midfielder was seen in Ibiza on a yacht relaxing with his pregnant girlfriend. Some days later he was completely lost in the game against City and was also lost in the game today.
It seems the midfielder is not ready for the new season yet.
He had a hand in the first goal, he is a fantastic footballer, creates goals, scores goals, but he can't defend.
When he is without the ball, Fabregas is completely useless. He can't defend, he lack the tactical intelligence to dominate games from the midfielder.
Mourinho does not like Oscar, but if he wants to be successful this season, he must challenge Fabregas by dropping him for the Brazilian midfielder or go better a better player.
4.Branislav Ivanovic is the joy of EPL forwards
A year or two ago, forward playing in the EPL stand no chance against Ivanonic, today the table has turned; they are all looking forward to playing against him.
The Serb has lost everything that made him one of the most feared right-back in the world.
His pace when attacking with his teammates and his goal scoring abilities seem to be lost now with the most basic skill, defending.
Ivanonic is now being dribbled, turned at will by forwards week in week out.
It is time Mourinho bring in Azpilicueta at right-back and player their new left back Baba Rahman.
Just drop Ivanonic, he needs to catch his breath
5. West Brom are relegation candidates without Saido Berahino
Saido Berahino was dropped for the game against Chelsea amidst interest fromTottenham.
The forward absence today showed by it will be difficult for West Brom without him. Berahino scored two goals against Chelsea in May and was clearly a missing factor has they faced the EPL defending champions again.
New striker Rondon was play a lone frontman and lacked the support from the flanks which Berahino would have offered.
Though they scored two goals, West Brom were still unimpresssive in attack par Rondon who harried Chelsea's defence all afternoon.
If they want more points this season, other forwards would have to put in work.
